Women's Yoga and Nature Retreat
Friday Oct. 18 (5 PM) through Sunday Oct. 20 (11 AM)
Treat yourself to a weekend getaway at Beechcliff Lodge in the beautiful Arc of Appalachia nature preserve. Nourish your body and soul through a walk through the forest, Hatha and Restorative yoga, meditation, journaling, and other activities. You can participate in all the activities, or as many as you wish. Take time for YOU – to relax, reflect, and reconnect with yourself! (see the weekend agenda).
Beechcliff Lodge is situated among giant beech trees next to Rocky Fork Creek, located 5 miles outside Bainbridge, Ohio. The Appalachian Forest Museum and hiking trails are a short walk down the road. You’ll feel like you’ve stepped back in time as you enter this beautifully restored and comfortable circa 1912 lodge. Bring a friend or come on your own and make new ones!
$175 per person for a shared room, 2 women per room. Includes 2 nights of lodging and meals/snacks.
Meals will be vegetarian.
SUGGESTED ITEMS TO BRING WITH YOU:
A favorite pillow and/or blanket – these are provided in the lodge, but you can bring your own if you like.
Your personal toiletries (towels, linens, and hand soap are provided at the lodge).
A yoga mat (if you don’t have one and would like to participate, let us know and we’ll bring one for you).
Comfortable clothing, including outdoor clothing for the weather (we will still hike in light rain).
Hiking shoes/boots with good soles, as the trails are hilly and slippery when wet.
A walking stick, if you have one.
A water bottle and a pack for carrying your lunch.
A good book.
A journal for writing.
Your favorite poem(s) to share, if you wish.
Your favorite wine and/or other beverages, if you wish.
NOTE: Cell phone coverage and internet
Cell phone coverage is spotty, and connectivity depends on your phone service company. Sprint is the only carrier that works on Cave Road (where Beechcliff is located). A short drive to Highway 50 connects to nearly every service provider.

5:00 to 8:00 PM: Check in at Beechcliff Lodge. **No dinner will be served; if you'd like dinner, you can eat before you come, bring it with you, or go out to eat at a local restaurant in Bainbridge. There is a full kitchen at the lodge if you would like to prepare or heat up a meal there. We will have beverages and snacks available for you as well.
8:00 PM: Group gathering at Beechcliff. We’ll ease into the weekend with a fun and contemplative nature-themed craft activity, and we’ll provide some introductory information regarding our Saturday morning workshop.
7:30 AM: Morning Yoga
8:45 AM: Breakfast
9:30 AM - 12:00 pm – Introduction to Ayurveda workshop with Terry Dunlap, RYT (Registered Yoga Therapist). Ayurveda is an ancient system of holistic, natural medicine that uses self-massage, herbs, foods, and other techniques to balance and heal the mind and body. In this workshop, Terri will help you determine your dosha (your constitution), how to recognize when it is out of balance, and she’ll discuss and demonstrate ways to help you bring it back into a more balanced state.
1:00 PM – Lunch
2:00 PM - Guided Nature Hike
Afternoon - Free time to do whatever you like. Suggested activities: take another hike, check out the Appalachian Forest Museum murals, practice yoga, meditate under a tree, journal, go into town to shop, read, nap, or relax on the porch with friends!
6:30 PM: Dinner at Beechcliff.
After dinner: Relax for the rest of the evening.
8:30 PM: Restorative Yoga
8:00 AM: Morning Yoga
9:15 AM: Breakfast
11:00 AM – Wrap up and closing intentions. Say goodbye to friends, and head home. (Or take another hike!)
