Tips for a great yoga session
-
Wear clothes you can move in. They don't have to be skin-tight, but avoid anything too loose-fitting as they may hang and get in your way during some poses.
-
Bring a yoga mat or large towel to practice on. If you don't have anything suitable, or you accidentally leave it at home, don't skip practice! We have loaner mats available.
-
Arrive early. 10-15 minutes is best, but at the very least give yourself enough time to:
-
Sign in as soon as you arrive
-
Take off your shoes, jacket, and anything else you wear on the street but don't need for yoga
-
Turn off your cell phone so you can leave the outside world behind for a little while!
-
-
Stay for the entire session. The final poses often help you transition back to "normal" without losing the sense of peace gained throughout the lesson.
-
I don't have any "yoga clothes" - what should I wear to class?"You don't need any special clothes to practice yoga, just wear clothes you can move in. They don't have to be skin-tight, but avoid anything too loose-fitting as they may hang and get in your way during some poses.
-
What if I can't make it to a class I already paid for?If you have reserved a spot in a regular class and need to cancel, you may cancel up to one hour before the class begins. Your payment will be credited back to your studio account for future use. If you do not show up for a class and do not cancel either by phone or through Schedule Bliss at least one hour prior to class time, you will be charged for the class without refund or credit (special exceptions may be made, depending upon circumstances).
-
I don't have a yoga mat, what else can I use?"While a good yoga mat is an investment you won't regret, there are other things you can use if you don't have one yet. A towel (or two) can provide sufficient padding, and other types of exercise mats, even camping mats, can work as well. We also offer loaner mats if you forget to bring your own.
-
Can I let someone else use my class pass?Class passes are non-transferrable and may not be shared. If you'd like to give someone the gift of yoga, gift certificates are available for purchase.
-
Why do class passes expire? We want our students to get their money's worth, and to enjoy their time in our studio as frequently as possible. By allowing class credits to expire, we hope to encourage students to attend classes regularly. We're also implementing new processes to help remind people to use up credits before they expire.
-
Do you offer hot yoga? We've given a lot of thought to whether or not we should offer hot yoga, and after careful review and study of the technique, we feel that the potential health risks outweigh the benefits (see articles in Breaking Muscle, Healthline, and Consumer Reports). Instead, we encourage our students to build internal heat with pranayama (breathing techniques) and asana (physical postures), which can be done without being in a super heated room.
